Our signature pizzas are so big they don’t even fit in a standard sized box. In fact, our smaller pizzas are bigger than some of the other guys’ larges. Don’t need a whole pie? Our popular single slices are cut from a 24 inch pizza, so you’ll always be satisfied.

- History of NY Style Pizza
Pizza as we know it today was a favorite of Italy’s Queen Margherita di Savoia, who was first introduced to it traveling to Naples. Soon after, the Margherita pizza was named after her. Early Italian immigrants to New York were from this area, bringing this style cuisine with them.The first American pizzeria was founded by Gennaro Lombardi in Manhattan, 1905. As an immigrant from Naples, Lombardi introduced something to New York that would catch on quickly. The first New York pizzas sold for five cents, and many who couldn’t afford that opted to buy it by the slice.
These early pizzas were very close to how it was done in Naples, but Lombardi had to use coal fires rather than traditional wood fires. This was a necessary change because of the environment Lombardi found himself in, but it gave New York pizza a character of its own.
Original New York style pizza was often sold by the slice partially because of its wide, flat shape that was difficult to manage otherwise. Unlike some modern variants, original New York style pizza was made with fresh crushed tomatoes and homemade mozzarella. Dough is hand tossed with high gluten bread flour.
