In the Charlotte or Hickory areas? Visit our sister restaurant, Tony’s Pizza!
It’s dinnertime and everyone is hungry, but you’re tired of the usual takeout options. You want something local serving the best food. Why not order some delicious, hot pizza? When you need fast food near me, visit Mario’s Pizza.
In 1921, White Castle opened the first fast food restaurant chain serving burgers called sliders. However, the idea of grabbing a bite to eat while on the road isn’t a modern practice. Street vendors have been around since ancient times preparing and selling food to the public. Notably, ancient Rome had vendors operating an early version of fast food.
Generally, fast food restaurants appeal to many consumers due to their convenience, price, and preparation time. In many cases, you don’t even have to leave your car to order and receive your food. Plus, it’s much cheaper than ordering food at a sit down restaurant. Finally, fast food fits the American busy lifestyle with food usually ready in 10 minutes or less.
Today, the fast food market has become crowded with many other choices. For example, Taco Bell, Subway, and Kentucky Fried Chicken have popularized fast food subs, tacos, and chicken. Unfortunately, many fast food restaurants have earned the reputation of preparing food quickly with little consideration given to quality. Furthermore, recent nutritional studies point to the high levels of salt, sugar, and preservatives in many convenience foods.
Instead, why not choose an option created by Italians, the originators of fast food? Pizza is one of America’s favorite foods with its crispy crust, sweet tomato sauce, and gooey cheese. Plus, it’s a quick food. Most pizzerias can bake your pie in about the same amount of time it takes to assemble a burger.

Pizza tends to get a bad wrap as an unhealthy food. However, that’s not entirely the case. In fact, it’s the opposite. Thanks to its tomato base it has a full serving of vegetables. If you add many of our vegetable toppings, then that only increases the benefits. Plus, thanks to all the cheese it has quite a bit of calcium.
Since our owners are from Brooklyn, they know authentic NY-style pizza from tossing the dough to creating the perfect sauce. If you are from NY and missing good pizza, then head over to see us!

Cloverdale Avenue borders the northern edge of the Ardmore neighborhood, a suburb of Winston-Salem. Established in the early 1900s, this charming area is the largest historic district in the city. The area’s location allows for access to both Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center and Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Hospital. Both employees of the hospitals and residents of the neighborhood are close to the Marios Cloverdale location.
The story of Mario’s Pizza began in the pizza-making capital of the U.S., Brooklyn, NY. Three Italian brothers left their home and moved to the NC coast. With old family recipes in hand, they opened a pizzeria in Jacksonville and Havelock, serving great-tasting NY style pizza.
Over the years, the brothers extended their menu offerings to include other Italian food and opened new restaurants. Today, you’ll find 9 locations throughout the Triad including the Marios Cloverdale location:

America is home to many different styles of pizza, usually named after the location of its birth:
However, out of all the various types, NY style pizza is the favorite kind. It begins with its thin and crispy yet chewy crust. Although the ingredients are important, so is hand tossing the dough. This method of gently stretching the dough helps to produce its wonderful texture. Of course, using fresh high-quality ingredients for the sauce and toppings contribute to the deliciousness. Finally, baking pizza pie at extremely high temperatures locks in the flavor.
At Mario’s Pizza, we follow time-honored traditions and follow old family recipes to make our outstanding pizzas. Plus, we serve several different sizes depending on the number of people dining:
Moreover, to accommodate different tastes, we offer plenty of toppings to customize your pie. Our selection of 32 options includes traditional favorites like pepperoni, sausage, black olives, and tomatoes. Yet, we also have some exotic toppings like broccoli, pineapple, jalapenos, and Kalamata olives.
Additionally, we serve several specialty pizzas combining several great toppings in one delicious pie:
Of course, pizza pie is the perfect food for any luncheon meeting. It’s affordable and almost everyone loves it. However, sometimes you may want something different. For those times we offer party trays of your favorite Italian food:
Plus, you can pair one of these trays with our party-size garden or Greek salad to complement the luncheon. Finally, you can choose a garlic knot or deliciously sweet cannoli tray to create a truly memorable meal.
Or, if you prefer individual meals, you can order some of our daily specials. On Tuesdays, we offer a stromboli/calzone special. Alternatively, you can order any one of our delicious small sub sandwich specials any day up until 4 PM. You can choose from these mouthwatering sandwiches:

The blending of cultures in America has changed and incorporated many ethnic foods into popular meals. For example, many Italian dishes have become household staples and favorites. In particular, Italian food is one of the most beloved cuisines featuring pizza and pasta dishes. When you’re looking for the best spaghetti near me, visit Mario’s Pizza.
Americans love Italian pasta, consuming on average 20 pounds per person. Below are some of the many reasons why we love it:
Pasta uses simple and inexpensive ingredients: flour, salt, eggs, and water. This makes it one of the most affordable meal options available.
Even though it’s a simple meal, pasta is filling and satisfying, curbing your hunger.
Pasta is extremely versatile from the way you serve it to what you pair with it. It’s delightful with a simple dressing of garlic and olive oil sauce or full-bodied tomato sauce. Plus, it can be a side dish or the main meal.
You can’t get much easier than tossing it in a pot of boiling water for several minutes.
Italian Pasta comes in many shapes including tubes, shells, and thin strings. Overall, one of the most popular kinds is spaghetti.
An unopened box of pasta has a shelf life of 2 years. Whereas fresh pasta will last up to 8 months in the freezer.
The beginning of Americans’ love of pasta began in the 1880s. Waves of Italians immigrated to America until about 1924. They brought with them their rich history, appreciation of the arts, and of course, their love of food. Although pasta is associated with Italians, it was a French immigrant who opened the first pasta factory in 1848. Antoine Zerega located his manufacturing plant in Brooklyn, NY.
Over the years, the popularity of spaghetti spread from Italian neighborhoods in Brooklyn across the continent. Today, Americans continue to enjoy this pasta at home and in restaurants. Furthermore, if you’re looking for an authentic plate of spaghetti near me, stop by Mario’s Pizza.
For over 40 years, Mario’s Pizza has been serving North Carolina residents traditional Italian dishes and pizza. From a single restaurant in Jacksonville to 9 locations throughout the Triad area, we continue to serve outstanding Italian food.
Italian pasta has become a mainstay of American cuisine with its seemingly endless variety of shapes and accompanying sauces. While it appears simple to cook, there’s an artistry to cooling it perfectly. Boil it too long or not enough, use too much or too little salt, and you can ruin your pasta. That’s why when you want great-tasting pasta, head to Mario’s Pizza.
We serve several delicious pasta dishes:
Plus, our menu includes tasty sub sandwiches: in two sizes, 8 and 12 inches:
And as our name suggests, we serve pizza! By the slice or pie, our NY style pizza is a classic. You’ll love our thin, crispy crust, special tomato sauce, and gooey mozzarella cheese. Grilled, stuffed, NY style, or deep dish: any way you slice it, pizza pie is a popular food choice. Whether you’re having a few friends over or need something for dinner, hot, cheesy pizza is the preferred option. Moreover, when you want great tasting food and the ability to order pizza online, Mario’s Pizza is the perfect solution.
One of Americans’ favorite comfort foods is pizza pie with NY style coming out on top. Its thin, crispy crust blends perfectly with tangy tomato sauce and gooey cheese. In fact, our customers claim to prefer our NY-style over local competitors’ pizza. Of course, pizza makes a great meal choice, but it’s also the perfect party food for several reasons:
There are few things simpler than using your computer or smartphone to order pizza online. Moreover, nothing is easier when serving, socializing, and cleaning. You don’t need utensils and pizza slices are portable. Thus, your guests will have an easier time mingling while eating.
Usually, NY style pizzas are big with 8 huge slices. Furthermore, on average, one adult person will eat 3 slices. For children, the average is 2 slices. Thus, one pie can feed several people. This makes pizza an economical choice especially if you’re having a party.
When hosting a gathering, simply multiply the number of adults by 3 (children by 2). Then divide this number by 8 to determine the number of pies you’ll need. This is what industry experts call the ⅜ rule.
Typically, basic pizza pie begins with a topping of mozzarella cheese. However, add a few toppings and you slightly alter the flavor and texture of your pie. For example, cured meats give your pizza a salty, savory flavor. While other toppings can add sweetness or crunchiness.
Some scientists have studied the chemical compounds in pizza to determine why people love it so much. It seems the combination of flavors from the crust, tomato sauce, and cheese makes pizza one of the tastiest foods.
Eating is a social experience that unites people and pizza is the ideal party food. You can move around while eating it, removing the restriction of having to talk solely to people next to you.

What are you having for dinner tonight? Stop by Mario’s Pizza and let us serve you.
Travel to North Carolina and you’re likely to indulge in some regional favorites like Lexington BBQ. However, many national chains also have their origins here in the Tar Heel State. Have you ever wondered what food Greensboro NC is famous for? Let’s take a look at some legendary brands that began here.
Mt. Olive Pickles, Lance Crackers, Pepsi, Cheerwine, and Krispy Kreme Doughnuts are all well-known brands that began in our state. Additionally, many famous eateries began right here in the Tar Heel state.
Already a successful restaurateur, Wilbur Hardee liked what he saw at a McDonald’s in 1960. He decided to open a similar-style restaurant in Greenville. To give his burgers a better flavor, he cooked the burgers over a chargrill. His new restaurant was an immediate hit and he planned several more.
Within a few months, he forged a business deal with 2 men, Leonard Rawls and Jim Gardner. The partnership quickly soured and Wilbur sold his share and the use of his name. Hardee’s went on to open 1,800 restaurants across the U.S. while Wilbur went on to manage several other eateries.
Hardee’s franchise owner, Jack Fulk, and Kentucky Fried Chicken executive, Richard Thomas, partnered to open Bojangles in 1977 in Charlotte. Specializing in Cajun fried chicken and fresh, homemade buttermilk biscuits, the restaurant soon became a favorite eatery with local residents. Today the chain has about 340 locations in NC alone.
In 1989, Morris Reaves opened the first Cookout restaurant on Randleman in Greensboro. This favorite eatery stands out for its inexpensive prices and the multitude of sides. Plus, the eatery serves another NC original, Cheerwine.
Furthermore, you can choose from over 40 different shake flavors. Additionally, you can mix these flavors to create new combinations. Also, many locations stay true to their origins by serving customers through drive-in only.
While this pizzeria is only a legend within the Piedmont area, Mario’s Pizza continues to spread throughout North Carolina. It all began in 1981 when brothers, Tony, Vinny, and Mario, moved from Brooklyn, NY to NC.
We began selling our signature style NY style pizza at our first pizzeria in Jacksonville. Since then, we’ve expanded the menu to include salads, calzones, strombolis, and several other authentic Italian dishes. Moreover, combined with our sister store, Tony’s Pizza, we have a total of 15 Italian restaurants throughout the state.
A North Carolina sweet treat had its start in 1937. At that time, Vernon Rudolph bought a secret yeast-raised doughnut recipe from a New Orleans French chef. He rented a building in historic Old Salem to bake his doughnuts for local grocery stores. When passersby began asking to buy some, Vernon cut a hole in an outside wall to sell directly to customers.
Although most people eat them for breakfast, doughnuts are actually a dessert. So, you would think with Krispy Kreme originating here in the Triad, that would be North Carolinians’ favorite treat.
Furthermore, North Carolina is a top producer of pecans, peaches, and sweet potatoes. Again, you might think our most popular dessert would be pecan pie, peach cobbler, or even sweet potato pie.
However, the most popular dessert in the Tar Heel state is a supremely moist cake. According to several sources, coconut cake tops the list.
As far as snack foods go, this one’s a toss-up. Some surveyors put Starbursts at the top, while others cite Muscadine grapes or Doritos as the favorite.
If you’re looking for some great Italian food Greensboro NC residents love, stop by Mario’s Pizza. If you’ve never tried us, you may have questions about our Italian restaurants. Below, we’ve answered a few frequently asked questions to get to know us better.

Just a few miles Southwest of Winston Salem lies the village of Clemmons. Settled in 1802, today the town boasts a growing population with plenty of things to do. You’ll find shopping, golfing, hiking, and even ax throwing here. Yet, once you’ve finished your activities, you’ll be searching for food Clemmons NC has to offer. First, let’s take a look at some of the great recreational opportunities and family owned restaurants in the area:
As Forsyth County’s largest park, the facility has many amenities including two golf courses, horse stables, and tennis courts. The park also features an aquatic park with a wading pool, a tube river, and a large main pool. Plus, you can enjoy overnight stays at the Providence Manor House Inn, Guest House, or cabins. Finally, you can enjoy the park’s annual twinkling display with over a million lights during the holiday season.
If you love to play golf, you’ll want to stop by the Triad’s only Nicklaus-designed course, Salem Glen. Golf Digest has given the 18-hole championship course a prestigious 4-star ranking. Additionally, the facility’s banqueting hall can host your next special event.
Looking for the challenge and thrill of landing a Bream? Head out to the Village Point Fishing Pier. The jetty offers a 59-foot long, 48-foot wide fishing space over Village Point Lake. Before packing your equipment, buy your fishing license from a wildlife service agent or online.
People have been engaging in friendly axe throwing competitions for hundreds of years. However, it’s only been since about 2006 that the activity became an organized sport. You can experience this sport at Tap That Axe Throwing, the first of its kind in the Piedmont Triad area.
If you love Moravian cookies, you’ll want to visit Mrs. Hanes Moravian Cookie Factory. This family owned business has been making cookies from a secret recipe for several generations. Book a tour and you’ll see the entire process from beginning to end. Plus, you’ll receive samples during the visit.
Of course, you’ll find a great variety of food Clemmons NC has available. While the town boasts of all the usual national chains, you’ll also find some family-owned eateries:
The owner of Ava’s cupcakes, Michelle Spell, is also the winner of a baking competition. In 2012, she won season 4 of Food Network’s Cupcake Wars: I Love Lucy 60th Anniversary. One bite of her delicious cupcakes and you’ll agree with the judges. Yet more than just a cupcake bakery, you’ll also find macarons, cookies, handpies, scones, and trifles here.
When you want fresh seafood, you’ll want to visit the Full Moon Oyster Bar. Like its other locations, this family-owned restaurant in Clemmons offers steamed, grilled, baked, or fried fresh (not frozen!) seafood. Simply seat yourself at the bar to experience an unforgettable meal.
The Gallins Family began with Dockside Seafood over 30 years ago in Clemmons. In 2011, the family revamped the restaurant, reopening it as 2520 Tavern. Although the name and menu changed, their mission has not. The owners strive to provide the freshest ingredients, the highest-quality foods, and the most creative dishes at a fair price.
Sometimes you want home-cooked, southern food without cooking. Pot pies, macaroni and cheese, and other southern favorites are on the menu at this restaurant. Whether you want an individual, family-sized, or large catering order, Simply Southern has you covered. Place your order ahead of time and the staff will have it cooked and waiting for you when you arrive.
