In the Charlotte or Hickory areas? Visit our sister restaurant, Tony’s Pizza!
More Americans are trying to pick healthier eating options than even a few years ago. To meet the demands of consumers, many restaurants offer bowls of fresh greens piled with vegetables. When you’re searching for salads near me for lunch or dinner, visit Mario’s Pizza.
A salad is a nutritional powerhouse packed with minerals, vitamins, and other important nutrients. Plus, salad works as a great meal choice when you’re searching for healthy food near me.
We begin our salads with a mixture of romaine and iceberg lettuce. Although iceberg has gotten a bad reputation, it actually has several important nutrients. First, it’s rich in vitamins A and K. Iceberg lettuce also has small amounts of vitamin C, calcium, and iron. Plus, it adds a nice crunch with its mild sweet flavor. Our other base green, Romaine lettuce has calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, potassium, vitamin C, vitamin K, folate, and beta carotene.
Another classic salad ingredient is the tomato. It lends a sweet yet slightly acidic flavor while its bright red color contrasts nicely with the greens. Tomatoes are also a good source of Vitamins C and K. They also contain potassium, folate, and lycopene. A powerful antioxidant, lycopene protects the body from free radical stress that can damage DNA and other cell structures.
This member of the gourd family has a mild, slightly sweet flavor. Cucumbers are also an antioxidant and have other health benefits such as lowering blood sugar and supporting weight loss. It also has vitamins C and K, along with magnesium, potassium, and manganese.
While some people may not like the bold, pungent flavor of onions, they’re extremely healthy for you. Onions are rich in vitamins B and C, folate, calcium, potassium, and quercetin. A flavonoid, quercetin has both antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Thus, eating onions may help prevent cancer, heart disease, and some other diseases.
One of the healthiest diets is the Mediterranean diet. Furthermore, a cornerstone of this diet is olives. Some studies show olives are good for your heart and protect against osteoporosis and cancer. It has powerful antioxidants, copper, calcium, and iron, as well as vitamins A and E.
Many Americans struggle with eating enough fruits and vegetables. Furthermore, many vegetables lose nutrients when cooked. Choosing a salad gives you a range of vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients to maintain a healthy diet. Plus, some ingredients have a high-water content helping you stay hydrated.
While salads pack a nutritional punch, they’re also a delicious option. The variety of ingredients gives you a combination of flavors. Best of all, you can change the dressing to get a new flavor. Typically, the top spots will vary based on the survey. However, Ranch dressing is usually the most popular. A few other favorites include Caesar, Vinaigrettes, and Thousand Island.

Ready to munch on a fresh, crisp salad? When you’re searching for salads near me and a whole lot more, stop by Mario’s Pizza.
Chartered in 1859, High Point, NC earned its name because it was the highest point on the railroad line between Charlotte and Goldsboro. Now, this thriving city in North Carolina is a hotbed of fun activities and delicious food. If you’re looking for some of the best food in High Point, you’ve come to the right spot!
While High Point has many national chains offering a variety of food, there are some fantastic family-owned restaurants as well. Mario’s Pizza is one of them. Our diverse menu of appetizers, salads, subs, pizza, Italian dishes and dessert satisfy all sorts of appetites and tastebuds.
From A-D (appetizers to desserts!), we have lots of fun, freshly-made food. Not only is it made with the freshest ingredients, many of our dishes derive from family recipes brought to High Point NC from Calabria, Italy. It’s hard to get more authentically Italian than that!
Notably, we think a meal should be more than just a way to satisfy your appetite. In fact, we delight in the experience of tasting different dishes. Therefore, we advise to begin your tasty journey with one of our delicious appetizers.
Choose from:
Of course, we have pizza! In fact, most of our customers say it’s some of the best pizza in High Point. Brought to NC directly from Brooklyn in the 80s, our New York Style Pizza is big and it’s delicious. Specifically, the crust – mmmmm….that crust – has just the right crisp on the bottom and ooey, gooey cheese on the top. Fold it, cut it with a fork or hold it with two hands and take a big bite. Ultimately, no matter how you do it, we suspect you’ll enjoy it!
Whether you like it hot or cold, we have a sensational variety of subs. Better yet, you can personalize it to however you like it. Or, choose Mario’s Way or the Philly Way.
Subs selection includes:
If you’re looking for some food in High Point to put plants on your plate, we have some traditional and unique salad dishes. For instance, our Greek, Garden, Chef and Caesar salads are delicious. Or, try something a little different with our Craisin’ Cranberry & Walnut salad. Lovingly built with Craisin Cranberry, sugar-coated walnuts, feta cheese, spinach and a drizzle of vinaigrette, it is savory and sweet tossed to perfection.
Moreover, we have delicious traditional Italian dishes such as baked ziti, Parmigiana (chicken, veal or eggplant), lasagna, baked ravioli and spaghetti with fresh tomato sauce. Likewise, we have stromboli and calzone stuffed with whichever of our toppings that you prefer.
More importantly, we get that eating out with a family gets expensive. Therefore, we price our kids’ meals affordably. Currently, they are all $5 or UNDER! That’s hard to beat in this current economy and we are doing our best to keep that pricing. Choose from subs and sides, pizza slices, cheese sticks, ravioli, spaghetti and chicken tenders. Better yet, EVERY kid’s meal comes with a drink!
Finally, no full-blown meal experience is complete without a delectable dessert! Thus, we have traditional Italian desserts such as tiramisu, cannoli, cheesecake and limoncello mascarpone cake.
Likewise, you may want to experience all this fun food at a party! Fortunately, you can get many of our dishes party sized. Choose from: baked ziti, parmigiana, ravioli, lasagna, spaghetti, Greek and garden salad and cannoli.
Plus, don’t forget to check out our specials on the menu. Every single day we have lunch specials and highlight a choice of the day to also save you a little bit of money!
Likewise, High Point and the surrounding area have some fun things to do while you’re visiting. Even if you’re from High Point, it’s sometimes fun to act like a tourist. So be sure to check out some of the fun activities below.

From a textile mill town to a vibrant sports and cultural metropolis, Greensboro is one of America’s most diverse cities. Whether you’re looking for excitement or connecting with nature, the city has both modern-day attractions and historic sites. Below we list a few great things to do.
If you’re a resident, you know the story of Nathaniel Greene and the battle with Cornwallis’s army in 1781. You can visit the site of the battle where the armies met at the Guilford Courthouse National Military Park. Other local historical sites include Blandwood, International Civil Rights Center & Museum, and the Greensboro History Museum.
Maybe you’d prefer tours covering other cultural aspects of Greensboro. Do you know the stories of ghosts who haunt several buildings in the city? Or perhaps you’d prefer a taste tour with visits to the city’s best restaurants and food shops.
Spending time at a museum offers people a fun way to learn. Museums can also inspire and help us connect with others. Aside from history exhibits, Greensboro has many museums offering a wide variety of interests. Some of the more popular destinations include the Science Center, Children’s Museum, Weatherspoon Art Museum, and the Richard Petty Museum.
Greensboro’s gardens offer a place to relax, enjoy nature, or take photos. With special plantings, display gardens, and sculptures, you can connect with nature to reduce stress and improve your mood. Sometimes, you’ll stumble across a wedding party since these are popular sites for photo shoots. Best of all, admission is free to these gardens:
Many people love to shop whether they’re buying for themselves or another person. Greensboro boasts some great stores to find everything you need from new to antique. One of the most popular shopping destinations is Friendly Center.
An outdoor shopping mall, Friendly Center has over 150 unique stores. For example, if you’re looking for unique women’s clothing, stop in Anthropologie. This store is a unique, full-lifestyle shopping destination carrying a large assortment of accessories, clothing, and home decor.
Afterward, visit a sweet shop for a sugary treat. For over 100 years, See’s Candies have been making and selling a variety of chocolates, lollipops, and brittle.
What about perfume? Scent Workshop is a studio where you can attend workshops to learn how to create custom candles, lotions, and perfumes. You can create a personal, signature smell that tells your story.
Of course, this is only a very small sampling of all the shops you can find at Friendly Center. You can view the complete listing of stores in the mall’s directory.
After spending a day out and about, who wants to go home and cook? However, if you’ve been out on a family excursion, eating out can really add up. Unless, you stop by Mario’s Pizza. Travel to North Carolina and you’re likely to indulge in some regional favorites like Lexington BBQ. However, many national chains also have their origins here in the Tar Heel State. Have you ever wondered what food Greensboro NC is famous for? Let’s take a look at some legendary brands that began here.
Mt. Olive Pickles, Lance Crackers, Pepsi, Cheerwine, and Krispy Kreme Doughnuts are all well-known brands that began in our state. Additionally, many famous eateries began right here in the Tar Heel state.
Already a successful restaurateur, Wilbur Hardee liked what he saw at a McDonald’s in 1960. He decided to open a similar-style restaurant in Greenville. To give his burgers a better flavor, he cooked the burgers over a chargrill. His new restaurant was an immediate hit and he planned several more.
Within a few months, he forged a business deal with 2 men, Leonard Rawls and Jim Gardner. The partnership quickly soured and Wilbur sold his share and the use of his name. Hardee’s went on to open 1,800 restaurants across the U.S. while Wilbur went on to manage several other eateries.
Hardee’s franchise owner, Jack Fulk, and Kentucky Fried Chicken executive, Richard Thomas, partnered to open Bojangles in 1977 in Charlotte. Specializing in Cajun fried chicken and fresh, homemade buttermilk biscuits, the restaurant soon became a favorite eatery with local residents. Today the chain has about 340 locations in NC alone.
In 1989, Morris Reaves opened the first Cookout restaurant on Randleman in Greensboro. This favorite eatery stands out for its inexpensive prices and the multitude of sides. Plus, the eatery serves another NC original, Cheerwine.
Furthermore, you can choose from over 40 different shake flavors. Additionally, you can mix these flavors to create new combinations. Also, many locations stay true to their origins by serving customers through drive-in only.
While this pizzeria is only a legend within the Piedmont area, Mario’s Pizza continues to spread throughout North Carolina. It all began in 1981 when brothers, Tony, Vinny, and Mario, moved from Brooklyn, NY to NC.
We began selling our signature style NY style pizza at our first pizzeria in Jacksonville. Since then, we’ve expanded the menu to include salads, calzones, strombolis, and several other authentic Italian dishes. Moreover, combined with our sister store, Tony’s Pizza, we have a total of 15 Italian restaurants throughout the state.
A North Carolina sweet treat had its start in 1937. At that time, Vernon Rudolph bought a secret yeast-raised doughnut recipe from a New Orleans French chef. He rented a building in historic Old Salem to bake his doughnuts for local grocery stores. When passersby began asking to buy some, Vernon cut a hole in an outside wall to sell directly to customers.
Although most people eat them for breakfast, doughnuts are actually a dessert. So, you would think with Krispy Kreme originating here in the Triad, that would be North Carolinians’ favorite treat.
Furthermore, North Carolina is a top producer of pecans, peaches, and sweet potatoes. Again, you might think our most popular dessert would be pecan pie, peach cobbler, or even sweet potato pie.
However, the most popular dessert in the Tar Heel state is a supremely moist cake. According to several sources, coconut cake tops the list.
As far as snack foods go, this one’s a toss-up. Some surveyors put Starbursts at the top, while others cite Muscadine grapes or Doritos as the favorite.
If you’re looking for some great Italian food Greensboro NC residents love, stop by Mario’s Pizza. If you’ve never tried us, you may have questions about our Italian restaurants. Below, we’ve answered a few frequently asked questions to get to know us better.
America’s love affair with pizza began in NY when Italian immigrants began selling it in 1905. Since then, chefs have altered the original recipe to create different versions. However, many people still prefer the original NY style.
Yet, finding pizzerias serving great-tasting NY style pizza in other areas can be difficult. Unless, you have an Italian family from Brooklyn making your pizza. Moreover, we make many of our other Italian dishes using old family recipes brought over from Calabria, Italy.
Of course! Simply place your order online or from our smartphone app. Then, you can pick your order up at one of our convenient locations. Or you can have it delivered to your doorstep. For your convenience, we use several different delivery partners like Uber Eats and DoorDash.

For some people, instead of a relaxing activity, social eating or dining out can produce anxiety. Those with celiac disease, gluten intolerance, or wheat allergy, must be careful about their food choices. They may wonder, is it possible to find a gluten free dinner near me?
Often, newly diagnosed people needing a gluten free diet struggle with eating out. Many diners worry about cross-contamination and hidden glutens. Yet, by following a few tips, you can safely eat out.
Some Americans need to avoid gluten, a protein found in wheat, barley, rye, and triticale. Approximately 2 million have celiac disease and 18 million have an intolerance. Many others may have a wheat allergy. For these people, ingesting even a minute amount of gluten can make them very sick.
Today, most restaurants have an online menu. Often, the menus contain allergy information so you can pick out your meal before you get to the establishment. Additionally, you can call the restaurant during non-busy hours to ask questions.
Yet, what if you’re traveling or on vacation? It can be harder to research restaurants to find safe options. However, mobile apps like Find Me Gluten Free can assist in helping you stick to your diet. In addition to listing restaurants with gluten free options, you can read reviews from the GF community.
Luckily, many foods are naturally gluten free. Thus, people on a gluten free diet can still eat a wide variety of foods. Unseasoned, grilled meats, steamed vegetables, and salads make great choices.
However, it’s always important to let your server know upfront about your dietary restrictions. Sometimes, a dish may contain an offending ingredient that’s not listed. For instance, soy, teriyaki, and other sauces sometimes contain wheat. Occasionally, even spices or seasonings contain flour to keep them from caking.
Often too, diners may have a different degree of sensitivity to gluten. For example, shared fryers with breaded foods can transfer gluten. Utensils and cutting boards can do the same. Thus, some patrons may need a dedicated kitchen to prevent cross-contamination.
As the demand for gluten free options has grown, so have the menu choices. Over the years, chefs tinkered with traditional wheat flour-based recipes to develop great-tasting gluten free ones. Dishes that were once forever forbidden to gluten free diners became widely available.
Tapping into this new market, many pizzerias began to offer GF pizza, Mario’s Pizza included. In fact, we offer 2 different kinds of gluten free pizza crusts, cauliflower and rice flour.
Generally, choosing a cauliflower crust may be the healthier option. This vegetable is rich in antioxidants which may decrease inflammation. Plus, it’s lower in calories, carbohydrates, fat, and sodium.
While a cauliflower crust is a healthy choice, not everyone likes the taste of it. However, if you’re seeking a more traditional-style pizza, you’ll love our rice-based pie crust.
Moreover, we offer a large variety of delicious toppings, but not all of them are gluten free. If you’re unsure about a particular one, ask your server when placing your order.
With Mario’s Pizza located throughout the Piedmont area, finding gluten free dinner near me has never been easier. We offer dine-in and online ordering with delivery or pick-up. Below, we’ve answered a few commonly asked questions about ordering from us.
Yes! We serve a full menu of authentic Italian dishes! You can order subs, calzones, and stromboli. Additionally, we serve several different types of parmigiana and pasta dishes. For a lighter meal, we also offer several kinds of salads.
Plus, you can find over a dozen delicious appetizers like wings, garlic knots, and toasted ravioli. Of course, we also offer some sweet desserts to finish off your meal. How about a slice of tiramisu, cheesecake, or limoncello mascarpone cake? Or, who can pass up one of our traditional, scrumptious cannoli?
Moreover, if you have small children, you’ll love our kids’ menu. We offer smaller-sized portions of kids’ favorites all at a price you’ll love.
We understand many of the challenges you face when adhering to a special diet. Our staff is sensitive to all allergies, intolerance, and preferences. Just let our staff member know of your dietary restrictions when you place your order.
However, while we do take care to avoid cross-contamination, we only have one kitchen to prepare all our food. Notably, if you have an extreme sensitivity to gluten, our gluten-free options are not your safest choice. Lots of flour flies around when we toss or NY-Style pizzas.
Absolutely! We’ve partnered with several great delivery services like DoorDash, Uber Eats, and Grubhub. Check our website for delivery options as they vary by location.
When you’re hungry and searching for a gluten free dinner near me, you don’t want to travel far. And you won’t have to if you want a gluten free pizza from Mario’s. When you’re looking for great-tasting gluten free pizza in the Triad, come visit us at Mario’s Pizza!
Figuring out what to make for family meals can be frustrating, especially if there are multiple picky eaters in your house. If you’re stuck on what to eat for lunch, Mario’s Pizza can help. Here are five fun lunch ideas to consider, or for the easiest option, stop by our authentic Italian restaurant for a full menu of pizza, subs, wings, and more, including daily lunch specials.
According to one survey, some of American’s favorite things to eat at mealtime include:
Other top lunch favorites include sandwiches, chicken nuggets/tenders, and salads.
If your family members tend to be creatures of habit, you can get creative by trying a new twist on one of their favorites. Think about how you can make your lunch globally-inspired to introduce a few new flavors or textures without going too far out of their comfort zone.
Here are some examples:
Get creative by adding in a few interesting ingredients to encourage your family to try new things, without making them turn up their noses at something completely unfamiliar.
Charcuterie boards are all the rage, and for good reason. People love the flexibility to try a wide range of foods during a single meal. There’s no reason you can’t make a version that your kids will love too, as a fun lunch option.
Traditionally, a charcuterie board shows off upscale cured pork products, and many also include nuts, cheese, fruits, vegetables, crackers, spreads, and dipping sauces. For your lunchtime charcuterie board with the kids, you can add:
You can add any other snacky foods in your house as well. Don’t forget to add in a few more unusual options to encourage picky eaters to try new things. You could include foods such as hummus, kiwi or other tropical fruits, pickles, and more.
Sometimes your mornings can be very rushed, so it isn’t possible to make pancakes or waffles. You can make them for a fun lunch instead, with a toppings bar that kids (and – who are we kidding – adults too!) will love. Here are a few fun toppings to try on your pancakes or waffles:
You can make your waffle/pancake bar slightly healthier with options like fresh fruit, nuts, and honey, or you can get indulgent for a special occasion with candy toppings.
Quesadillas are a fun lunch alternative to sandwiches and wraps. They are extremely easy to customize so you can please everyone. You can even make tortillas at home by mixing together 2 cups of flour, 3/4 cup of water, and a pinch of salt. Little hands will love to help you knead the dough into a smooth consistency, and after it rests for ten minutes, divide into 8 balls and roll into thin circles. Cook in a greased pan for a few minutes and viola: homemade tortillas.
Of course, you can also choose the easier route with a store-bought version as well. Either way, top one tortilla with your desired fillings. This is a great way to use leftover ground beef, steak, pulled pork, or chicken. Then, top with your favorite cheeses and a second tortilla and grill for a few minutes on each side.
Sometimes, even the best lunch ideas in the world just don’t sound good in the moment. When you don’t know what to eat for lunch, bring the whole gang to Mario’s. Our lunch menu includes full pizzas and pizza by the slice, a wide range of Italian pasta entrees, hot and cold subs, and more. There’s a little something for everyone, even if you don’t want pizza for lunch.
If your day is especially busy, we also offer delivery via Slice, DoorDash, Uber Eats, and Grubhub. Additionally, you can call us for a carry-out order. Don’t forget to join our rewards program to earn points with every visit!
We’d love to answer any questions you have about the Mario’s Pizza lunch menu. Here are a few FAQs to get you started:

We bring traditional Italian food to North Carolina with our authentic family recipes. Our family has roots in Calabria, Italy, and we grew up in Brooklyn before moving south. You can read more about our journey here, and we hope to see you at one of our locations for an Italian lunch soon!
Here at Mario’s Pizza, we serve traditional Italian food using our family’s recipes all the way from Italy. However, we know that sometimes pizza and pasta don’t hit the spot. You may instead want a fresh salad, filled with veggies and other delicious toppings. If you’re looking for good salads near me, Mario’s has you covered.
Did you know that adults should be eating 2 to 3 cups of vegetables daily? The CDC reports that only about 10% of American adults are getting the right amount of vegetables. Here in North Carolina, that number is even slightly lower than the national average, with only 9.5% of adults eating the recommended amount of vegetables. That’s less than one in ten!
Salads are a great solution because they pack a lot of varied vegetables into one meal. A healthy diet helps prevent a number of health conditions, including type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, and even some kinds of cancer.
If you order a salad at Mario’s, we can add any toppings you like from our selection. This includes:
This is just a short list of some of the toppings we have available. Of course, we also offer a selection of delicious dressings.
What’s best to put in good salads near me? You can also order one of our specialty salads, created by our chefs to hit all the right notes. You’ll love the flavors of our salads. Here’s what’s on the menu at Mario’s:

Of course, we also serve up individual slices and pies of our famous Brooklyn-style pizza along with mouth-watering wings. There’s something for everyone at Mario’s. You can get any of our salads as a side to your main entree if you want to enjoy fresh vegetables and also have a hot meal.
What makes Mario’s different? Our food uses only the best ingredients, and our recipes have been passed down through the generations from our family in Italy, by way of Brooklyn, New York. We provide that authentic Italian cuisine experience right here in the North Carolina Triad. And, if you are traveling through the Charlotte area, make sure to check out our sister restaurant, Tony’s Pizza, which has six locations.
If salad, pasta entrees, and pizza aren’t your cup of tea, we also have an extensive sub menu. Subs are great for meals on the go. We have both cold and hot options. We make our subs “the Mario’s way” or “Philly style” with a variety of toppings, but we can completely customize any sub to your tastes. Our three best sellers are:
Ask for your sub served the Mario’s way and you’ll get cheese, banana peppers, onions, mayo, lettuce, tomato, oil, and vinegar. Or, choose it Philly style with cheese, bell peppers, mushrooms, and onions. Again, we can customize your sub with other toppings if you wish.
We also serve four types of parmigiana subs (sausage, eggplant, chicken, and meatball), which are baked with marinara sauce and cheese. Additionally, you can try one of our other popular sub options: Italian, turkey, veggie, or sausage, peppers, and onions. Get them with one of our salads as a side so you can make sure to add those vegetables to your diet.
